Our Policy Regarding Family Mediation Services

Mediators can help families deal with many types of conflicts, marital separation and divorce issues, as well as intergeneration conflict, senior care decisions, and disputes involving estates.

WE BELIEVE FAMILIES ARE BEST SERVED by using mediators trained to deal with the issues at hand. We also believe that in marital disputes, CHILDREN COME FIRST and their issues should be given priority in any mediation service.

FAMILY RELATIONS MEDIATORS typically have a background in counseling and child development, and can assist families with
• parenting issues after separation and divorce
• inter-family disputes, including parent-child conflict, elder care decisions

FINANCIAL FAMILY MEDIATORS usually have a legal background and can deal with
• financial issues of child and spousal support after separation
• division of property after separation
• other financial or family business conflicts
• estate disputes

COMPREHENSIVE FAMILY MEDIATION may be offered by a person having background training in both law and social work. Sometimes, two mediators from different disciplines may team up to provide CO-MEDIATION to better assist families in conflict deal with all their issues.

CONSUMERS OF MEDIATION SERVICES ARE URGED TO ASK ABOUT THE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE OF POSSIBLE MEDIATORS BEFORE RETAINING THEIR SERVICES. THIS WILL HELP TO ENSURE YOU RETAIN A MEDIATOR BEST ABLE TO DEAL WITH THE ISSUES INVOLVED IN YOUR CONFLICT.
